REDS REOPEN RAIL SERVICE TO BORDER OF HONG KONG

(10 a.m.) HONG KONG, Nov. 1. Chinese Communists today resumed the railway services between Canton and Shumchun on the Hong Kong border. As Communists are still refusing to permit through traffic into British territorj r , the Hong Kong authorities despatched special trains to the frontier to connect with the Chinese services. The trains were heavily patronised each way. Communist officials at the border placed no difficulties in the way of the Chinese crossing in either direction. Well-informed sources in Hong Kong believe that the Communists will not permit through traffic until Britain recognises the new regime.
