It had been agreed, stated Mr. Hicks, to request the Gisborne Borough Council and the Cook County Council to make ther engineers available for an inspection of the culverts in the area covered by the proposals for the scheme, and that the inspection should be made with the board's engineer, accompanied by two representatives of the Tamarau Settlers’ Association-one representing the group in favour of the scheme and the other the group not supporting the proposals. It was desired that the engineers report to the board. The committee also desired that the engineers consider whether or not improvements to the existing culverts would result in a substantial 'improvement to the drainage of the area concerned, the letter ad The’ council acceded to the request.
