Football Dance The City Football Club held its wind-up dance on October 24 alter a postponement from the Friday owing to local deaths. This change of plans caused some inconvenience, but nevertheless a successful dance eventuated. The dancers enjoyed the music of H. Puha and his Awatere orchestra, and Mr. R. White kept proceedings lively as M.C. Prize-winners included Mrs. Stirling and Miss S. Hovell. Mr. M. Stirling entertained with a comic dance .that was received enthusiastically, while Mr. T. Kepa’s singing again brought rapt attention. All those supporters present were thanked by Mr. M. Stirling in the major speech of the evening. Cricket Clubs Active There was a good attendance when die Te Araroa Cricket Club held its annual meeting in the bowling pavilion. Mr. P. Herewini was re-elcctcd to the chair and Mr. G. Tamahori as secretary. It was decided to follow last year’s system of leaving all matters in the hands of these two most capable members and thus dispensing with a committee. An outline of this year's cricket organisation on the Coast was given by Mr. Herewini, a fie ’ which a practice was called. It was noteworthy that, whatever the local club lacks, it makes amends with the smartness and keenness of the fielding, as was evident during the afternoon. Personals
