OFFICIALS SELECTED FOR WEIGHT-LIFTING CONTESTS AT GAMES

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 2. The final trials to choose the New Zealand weight-lifting team to take part in the Empire Games will be held in Auckland on December 17. The team will be announced immediately after the trials. The Dominion executive council of the New Zealand Amateur Weightlifters’ Association has approved the following officials for the Games:— Master of ceremonies, Mr. K. G. Blair (Auckland); assistant master of ceremonies, Mr. A. LI. Rumpler (Wellington) ; stage manager, Mr. W. A. Clark (Auckland); clerk of scales, Mr. C. Broad (Invercargill): recorders, Messrs. C. D Brunker. J. B. Elliott (Auckland); scoreboard clerk, Mr. Peter Newberry (Whangarei); competitors’ marshal, Messrs J. C.- Bonham (Auckland), Paul Newberry (Whangarei); loaders, Messrs A. D Thomas, J. Sommerville, A. Moselen, R. Hewitt,. D. Pong (Auckland); competitors’ stewards, Messrs. K. Going (Whangarei), R. C. Nicholson (Auckland), E. C. Larsen (Auckland); referees, Messrs H. J. R. Elliott, A. H. Rumpler (Wellington), D. Freeman (Dunedin), K. R. Mitchell (Wellington), G. D. Thornton (Auckland): judges, Messrs. F. W. Ongley (Wellingtonu), B. West (Whangarei).
