LABOUR TRIBUTE TO MRS. E. R. SCOTT ON WORK FOR PARTY
The impending departure from tlta district of Mrs. E. R. Scoit was the subject of expressions of regret at the monthly meeting of the Gisborne branch of the Labour Party, held oil Monday evening, at which Mr. J. E # L Hall and Miss C. Tucker deputised as chairman and secretary respectively- , Several members spoke of the exceTlent work performed for the party by Mrs. Scott during her long residence in Gisborne. It was stated that her dec parture from the district would mean a great loss to the branch, and that hev service had been of inestimable value on the Cook Hospital Board and i> the many oiganisations in which sh had been interested. The meeting carried a motion of con dolence with the relatives of Messr: W. H. Mclntyre and G. R. Huntei members of the Legislative Council whose deaths were reported recently. Branch members heard with rege that two of their colleagues, Mrs. M Ashworth and Mr. J. Mohan, were in mates of the Cook Hospital. Gooc wishes for their speedy recovery wer tendered One new member was welcomed t the branch A competition conducte during the evening was won by Mr. ( Hollamby. and Mrs. M. Watt wj thanked lor providing the prize. > A substantial part of the evenijn was devoted to a discussion of the current election campaign. i
