SEQUEL TO COLLISION WITH CYCLISTS

A fine of £2, with costs 13s, was imposed on Angus Allen Osier, Ormond road, Gisborne, in the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court yesterday for driving a motor vehicle on the MakarakaGisborne main highway on September R without due care and attention. Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., was on the Bench Prosecuting, Senior-Sergeant G- S. Norris said the defendant was driving to Gisborne and when nearing the showgrounds the vehicle struck the rear wheels of two cyclists who were riding abreast in front of the vehicle. Both cyclists were thrown to the ground, but there had not been any serious injury. On behalf of the defendant. Mr. L. T. Burnard entered a plea of guilty, stating that the defendant had not seen the cyclists, having been momentarily blinded by the bright head-lights of an oncoming vehicle.
