DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB HOLDS OFFICIAL OPENING DAY SHOOT
The official opening day competition of the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club was held during the week-end at the Sponge Bay range. Ten shots were -fired from the 300. 500 and 600yds. mounds, with a possible score of 150 points. Forty-eight competitors, including several members of the Wairoa and Tolaga Bav dubs, took part in the match and in the own start competition Held over the three ranges. R. Cainmock, Wairoa, was first with a gross aggregate score of 148 points. P. Foss, "also with a gross total of 148, secured second place, while J. K. Aitken. R. O. Bull, and C. Stone with gross scores of 147 were third, fourth and fifth in that order. The five highest scratch scores registered on the day were those of F. J. Jeune, 141, which included a possible at the 500yds.. R. O. Bull with 137 and R. Cammock with 130. The aggregate of the first 20 places in the own start competition were:—R. Cammock (Wairoa), P.
