(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Oct. 21. “The Wellington City Council is one of the few employers in the country who comply with stabilisation and deserves credit for observing the law.” Judge Tyndall stated this in the Arbitration court yesterday after it had been stated by counsel for the Wellington City Council Tramway Engineers and Mechanics’ Union that the minimum wage paid by the council to its employees was also the maximum paid by the council. The union was seeking an increase in rates in order, it was submitted to establish a margin commensurate with the skill of their work. The decision of the court was reserved.
