Red Strikers In Finland Cave In

HELSINKI, Sept. 5. *’ Finland's Communist-led Provisions and Wood Workers’ Unions today called off the three-weeks’-old strike against the Government’s pegged wages policy. Of the nine other Communist-led unions, who joined the strike, only the metal and transport workers are still out. The Prime Minister, M.' Fagerholm, said today that the Communist-insti-gated strikes in Finland were the greatest attempt since the war to crush tne political system of the country. If the Communists gave in, they could not be allotved to return to the Trades Union Federation without conditions. M. Fagerholm added that democratic order had been made safe.
