FAILURE OF CLAIM BY AWARDS INSPECTOR IN ARBITRATION COURT

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept- 7. A claim brought by the inspector of awards at Wellington against the Precision Engineering Company Ltd., for an alleged breach of the New Zealand (except Canterbury and _ Westland) Storemen and Packers’ Union award has been dismissed by Judge Dalglish in the Court of Arbitration.

The plaintiff alleged that the company employed a worker, Joseph Francis Steven Barnes, subject to the storemen and packers’ award, who was not a member of the union.

Judge Dalglish held that the inspector of awards had failed to prove that the worker came within the definition of workers covered by the storemen and packers’ award.
