AERIAL TOP-DRESSING OF TARANAKI LANDS TO BE INVESTIGATED
(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 6. The possibilities of aerial- top-dress-ing of farmlands in Taranaki is to be investigated by the New Plymouth Aero Club as a result of information received by the club last night from the Royal New Zealand Aero Club. It was reported to the club that many farmers would take immediate advantage of such a scheme. Discussions heid bet.veen the Royal New Zealand Aero Club and the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council about the possibility of aerial top-dressing by light aircraft, were outlined in a circular from the club. Generally speaking, said the circular, it had been agreed that club aircraft, while not large enough to play a part in the Government’s main scheme, could still fill a supplementary role in working for farmers who had relatively small or isolated areas to be top-dressed and who could provide a landing strip within about five miles of the area.
