MR. R. M C GLASHEN INSTALLED AS NEW ROTARY PRESIDENT

Mr. R. McGlashen, formerly vicepresident, was installed in office as president of the Gisborne Rotary club at its annual meeting yesterday. Mr. McGlashen succeeds Mr. W. Keith.

Appreciation of Mr. Keith’s service during his term of office over the last year was expressed in a motion carried on the suggestion of Mr. McGlashen and seconded by Mr. T. A. N. Corson. Before retiring, Mr- Keith expressed his appreciation to club officers and Rotarians for their willing assistance. He paid a special tribute to the untiring efforts of the secretary, Mr. F. T. Robinson.

Mr. Keith left the office with a very valuable record of service, having placed the club on a high plane, said Mr. McGlashen in paying a tribute to his predecessor’s work. He had performed his duties in. a commendable and notable manner, often at great inconvenience to himself. Mr. Keith returned thanks for the congratulatory remarks and added that, in performing his duties, he had done so for the benefit of Rotary as a whole.

Messrs. B. S. Bree and J. K. Angus were re-elected hon. treasurer and hon auditor respectively. The deaths of two members, Messrs. M. Moxley and J. Peach, were recorded with regret in the annual report.
