Drop In Polio Cases In U.S. Last Week

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1

The Federal Health Service reported that infantile paralysis throughout the nation declined last week for the first time in three months.

The week’s new cases otallcd 3214 more than 200 fewer than in the previous week.

Twenty-five Stales reported decreases and only two increases. The health service said that 20.513 new cases of infantile paralysis had been reported this year. The total for the corresponding period of 1048 was 11.155.

Eighty-five per eent of all cases have been children of In years or younger.
