Record Shipments of Frozen Meat
Shipments of frozen meat from Timaru so far this year have reached a port record of 19,140 tons. The average for the last two years has been 18,000 tons. Orange Tree Raiders
Growers of sweet oranges in many home gardens within the Gisborne Borough have been doomed to cusap* poirttment this season. This crop that has taken a year to grow and mature and probablv has been considered the prize of the garden, has suddenly disappeared while being kept on t..e trees for final ripening. Orange tree raiders have been more active than usual t.ui season and a nunioer of growers have had’ their trees stripped by persons young or old. Traps for the unwary may be set next season, or there may bo a keen demand for small dofl« with sharp teeth. - *
