Milk Consumption Cuts Output Of Butter, Cheese, Pigs
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. New Zealanders are using- so much .milk that butter and cheese, exports arc being affected and there is less milk for pigs and, consequently, less pork is available. These facts were mentioned by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. E. L. Cullen, when he addressed the Dominion dairy conference yesterday. Consumption of milk in New Zealand before the war. said the Minister, was 220 pints a head a year. Today it was 320 pints a year. Milk consumption for the whole Dominion was equivalent to 7980 tons of butter before the war and 13,000 tons today. .. _
