N.Z. Boxing Champion Turns Professional
(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 13. The New Zealand amateur heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Boyd, of Stratford, has decided to become a professional and has applied for a license. He has been matched to fight Tommy Downes, of Palmerston North. Bovd won the national title in 1946 and 1948. He has lost only two of his 25 amateur bouts.
