CARGO ON TRIDALE ENDANGERED
(P.R.) WELLINGTON. Aug. 12. Steps are being taken to bring about an -early settlement of the Tridale dispute and there have also been discussions on practical s.teps to ensure that the shipment of sausage casings on board the ship does not deterioate in quality. This information was given in the House of Representatives this morning bv the Minister of Labour, Mr. A. McLagan. in answer to an urgent question by Mr. W. A. Sheat (Oppos. Patea). Mr. Sheat asked whether the Minister would take immediate steps to secure the unloading of the 63 casks of sausage casings from the Tridale which would become valueless if not dealt with immediately. In view of the urgent need for dollar funds Mr. Sheat asked whether the Minister would make a personal appeal to the Wellington waterside workers to reconsider their decision not to handle those goods.
“The potential value of the consignment is 62.000 dollars.” said Mr. Sheat in a note to his question. “The life of such goods is from four to six months.”
