POWER BOAT CLUB WINDS UP ACTIVITIES

Shortage of engines has necessitated the winding-up of the activities of the Gisborne Power Boat. Club. This was decided recently bv members of the club who have donated surplus funds, which amount to about £l3. to the Takitimu and Tainui groups of the Boy Scouts’ Association. . . The club has been in existence since about 1937 and during the time until engines for the boats became unobtainable. it had enjoyed a fair amount of success. Some members bad substituted the recognised engines for engines of vehicles, the venture being fairly successful. Interest, however, was waning among members and this was prob ablv one of the main reasons whv the club was now defunct.
