Riccarton Track Should Be Reasonably Firm
(S.R.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. It. The weather has been line since Tuesday evening and gives promise of holding for the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting. The track at Riccarton has dried un W'll and should provide reasonably firm goine.
Well-filled fields will parade in all events.
The main attraction will be the Grand National Hurdles, for which there were 17 acceptors and all are expected to parade. These include Hunting Mac and Desert Trek, who will be making their third attempt te win the event.
Other interesting candidates will be Golden Reigp, whose schooling yesterday points to his prospects, and Jon Rosa, who will carry the same colours as Flying Attack, winner of the Grand National Steeplechase. There will be a cumbersome, but none the less high class, field in the chief fiat event, the Islington.
