POPULAR GIRL CAMPAIGN : GALA ON SATURDAY
Considerable interest is being shown in the gala day and procession of decorated vehicles which is to be conducted next Saturday by the St. John Ambulance committee. Indications are that the event will be as successful as its forerunners, the various entertainments held by the ''Popular Girl” committees. The procession, which will comprise decorated cars, lorries, and bicycles, is scheduled to leave the Chief Post office at 1.0 pun., proceeding up Gladstone road to Grey street, thence to Waikanae Beach. Attractions at Waikanae Beach will include stalls and sideshows run by the committees of each "Popular Girl,” in addition to a baby show and a comic dog-show.
With the co-operation that is due from the public for a function held in such a worthv cause, it is expected that Saturday’s gala will be an outstanding success, and a credit both to the organisers and to those participating in the procession and competitions.
