French Beat Czechs In Davis Cup Tie
PARIS. June 12. France caused the tennis surprise of the year today by beating Czechoslovakia in the quarter-finals of the European zone of the Davis Cup. France led by two matches to one when today’s matches began. Marcel Bernard clinched the win for France by defeating Vladimir Cernik, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1. giving France an unassailable 3-1 matches lead.
In the final singles Jaroslav Drobny defeated Robert Abd cs-Sclam 0-4, 6-1, 0-3.
