Townsend and Paul, Limited, fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that supplies durihg the past week have been much easier and values have remained firm, ' with a strong demand for all fruits, with the exception of Meyer lemons and kumeras.

Tree tomatoes at a recent auction sale were in strong demand, 20s being realised for an extra choice line.

Spring bulbs appeared on the market last week and are realising exceptionally attractive values. In the vegetable section heavy supplies of cauliflower have resulted in glut values. Peas and beans, on the other hand, are in keen demand, and values have proved satisfactory. New potatoes are selling at ceiling price. Heavy yardings of poultry have been offered and values are holding at late rates. There is a very keen inquiry for turkeys. Quotations for Thursday. June 9, sale, are: Tree tomatoes, red, 11s', yellow. 20s; persimmons. 7s to 9s: Meyer lemons, 6s 6d to 8s 3d: Chinese gooseberries. 24s to 335; outside tomatoes. 12s to 22s per half-case: passionfruit, Is 9cl to 2s 3d a dozen: sweet oranges, 17s to 255: marmalade oranges. 20s to 26s bushel base; hothouse tomatoes.
