POSSIBLE £20,000 BILL FOR COLLISION OF TWO SHIPS IN PORT

AUCKLAND, June 13.

The repairs to the freighters, Broompark and Komata, which collided in the harbouh on Friday, are likely to cost between £17,000 and £20,000. The work on the Broompark will probably cost between £IO,OOO and £12,000. The Broompark .was moved to the Western Wharf today to vacate the Princes Wharf berth for the Aorangi, due from Vancouver this afternoon. The Broompark’s owners have instructed Lloyds to proceed with the repairs. Tenders may be called shortly. The Komata’s repairs will.be done largely by the Union Steam Ship Company staff. It is expected that the preliminary marine inquiry into the mishap will be Held some time this week, after which the Minister, Mr. F. Hackett, will decide if a public magisterial inquiry is necessary.
