PERSONAL

MR. R. A. KEELING is at present in Wellington, where he will attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party as a delegate for the Gisborne and Tolaga Bay branches.

MR. AND MRS. A. THOMAS are spending a holiday in Wellington. While there Mr. Thomas will attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party.

MRS. K. TUCKER travelled to Wellington today to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party, where she, in conjunction with Mr. A. Thomas, is representing the Gisborne L.R.C. as delegates. At the conclusion of the conference she will travel to Dunedin, where she will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Fraser. Anderson’s Bay.

MR. L. S. P. BUTCHER. Auckland, was appointed secretary-manager by the Canterbury Education Board yesterday. At present district administrative officer for the Education Department at Auckland, Mr. Butcher will succeed Mr. L. E. Rowley, but it is not yet known when he will take up hisrnew duties. Born in 1895. Mr. Butcher was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School and joined the Education Department in Wellington in 1912. He has been with it ever since, apart from two years and a half spent on military service during the First World War.—P.A.
