INSPECTORS STOP CARS WITH BADLY ADJUSTED LIGHTS

Making a routine raid on motorists whose lights did not comply with the regulations, three Transport Department inspectors and the Gisborne Borough Council's traffic inspector. Mr. T. G. Nowell. last night issued offence notices to several drivers. The officers were stationed at, the intersection of Gladstone and Roebuck roads from 7 to 9 p.m. Approaching vehicles whose headlights appeared to he incorrectly adjusted were stopped and the lights checked on a testing board. On the whole, the officers found that car lights were properly adjusted, hut that some improvement could be effected by a few motorists.

Cyclists caught riding their machines without lights and without rear reflectors were also stopped and offence notices will be issued to them.
