FOXTON FORM MAY BE CONFLICTING

(Herald Special Service)

FORM conflicting with that shown at recent race meetings hiay be noted at the one-day Foxton meeting tomorrow, as the going there is of sandy formation and has always been a little tricky. However, very fair fields are listed and there is every likelihood of good sport as long as a fine day is experienced, as that will mean many visitors from Wellington. HACK & HUNTERS’STEEPLES. POROUTAWHAO HURDLES

This event is for hack and hunters. Captain Jesse is the form horse, but with 11.1 and 51b more than the improving Imperial Crown will be hard put to it to head off the latter. Tid-Apa was not started last week at Otaki so may want a race. 11-Corona will be having his first race between the flags, but jumps hurdles so proficiently and being a fine big gelding may suit this department. Sailor’s Song jumps and gallops fast, but in the past lack of stamina has not been in his favour. Tudor Chief has been schooling exceptionally well at Awnpuni and the same can be said of Gold Dip at Hastings. The latter has no form, but recent private exploits make his place chance a decided possibility. Peter Quex is another from Awapuni who has been making no errors in his schooling. Sky Bomb and Speed King, on form, arc not strong recommendations. TRIAL STAKES There is very little form offering among this lot, but the placing in his last three starts by Haughty Boy makes him a logical favourite. Strongest opposition may come from Grand Venture Vale Rosa. Fleetness and Wembley in the First Division.

BroiefieM was fancied at Hastings last month, but owing to losing his rider at the first fence gave no indication of his possibilities. Specialist is experienced and race conditioned so for that reason must enter a final summing-up. Trig Point is coming down in the weights, which suits him ever so .much better and at 10.0 may now be in the money. Shellwyn has shown promise in this department, but has not raced of late. Gay Stitches, useful on the fiat, is a newcomer in this department. Follow Suit Is said to be showing promise in private. There are several who have no hurdle experience. An exception is Bonifort, who is due any day now after his recent fourth.

In the Second Division the class is no better than in the first and the probable fancies may be Leighbonny, Lady Orleio, Legal Document, Rappel (second last week), and Sensational.

MOUTOA HACK NO. 1 Foxtonian has been racing prominently of late and, despite his 9.0, is a force to reckon with there. Sergeant Jack, a winner last week at Olaki, is again to be seriously considered, while La Salle has no recent form. Bean - form, a recent maiden winner, has the best form of the others. ★FOXTON CUP

TENOR ROYAL at 8.3 is the virtual top-weight, but on account of unsoundness is a hard one to sum up with any degree of confidence. NGAKOTI, second last week when favourite, may be well backed again. TREMELLO is said to have improved this last week or so, and on Tuesday was responsible for an attractive gallop over a mile at Awapuni. LADY MYRTLE has consistent form of late, but on last week’s performance HIGH ORDER will have to show a marked improvement. SHEILWYN is also in the hurdles. MASTER FOX, on Nelscn form, enters calculations. KIPPO and CAREY are passed over in favour of FOXTONIAN if his party elects to start him in this race. ★KEBBELL MEMORIAL

THE PAGAN seldom runs a bad race, although he is a bleeder, but that weakness tells against the confidence that might otherwise be placed in him. ZEALANDER was second last Saturday, but there is no guarantee that he will produce that form again. FULL OF FUN of late has not been racing so well, and LORD AZURE also has failures against his name. GRAND TOURIST has always been hard to follow. PLAYTOS may pop up, but LORD LUCK has not won for so long that no one will vote for him on the win machine. LIVRE D’OR, unlucky in her last start, may be a favourite, and another promoted hack in BLUE SKIMMERS also may enter calculations. DEMURE, bracketed with LORD AZURE, may do best of this Wairarapa-owned pair. BONNY BANKS is just a fair hack at best. Further down the list DETERMINATION seems the best. MOUTOA HACK NO. 2

Dandy Ninth has failed of late, but with such a poor field pitted against him may make amends. The only serious opposition, on form, may come from Roscarea, Arvadale and Sir Denzil. HIMATANGI HACK HDOP.

Festal, after last week’s race, may do better. Guerdon, a fairly consistent performer in this class, is assured of support. Aristea is coming back to form, but Royal Crown looks as hard to pass over as any in this race. Conceal, Proclaim, Broiesome, Jimmy Wilde and Rokdale are the pick of the others.

Horses in favour may be:— HACK STEEPLECHASE.—ImperiaI Crown, 11-Corona, Captain Jesse.

TRIAL STAKES.—First Division: Haughty Boy, Fleetncss. Second Division: Rappel, Leighbony.

POROUTAWIIAO HURDLES. Bonifort, Specialist, Broicfield. NO. 1 MOUTOA HACK.—Foxtonian, Sergeant Jack, Beauform.

FOXTON CUP.—Lady Myrtle, Trcmelio, Ngakoti. KEBBELL MEMORIAL. Livre

d’Or, Blue Skimmers, Demure
