\ynsN she did not not appear i when called at 12.80 p.m. ye: the arrest of a Maori widow who had pleaded not guilty in the lower court to charges of forgery and uttering. She was Riwia Rapana, who after being committed from the lower court for trial in the Supreme Court was granted bail. ' It was explained by Mr. L. T. Gurnard, her counsel, that at 10.10 a.m. yesterday he had received a telephone
in the Supreme Court in Gisborne 'sterdav, a warrant was issued for message from the accused to say she would meet him at the courthouse 10 minutes later. She had not kept that appointment. . After issuing the warrant for Rapana’’s arrest, Mr. Justice Cornish adjourned the court until 2 p.m. In the meantime the accused was located by the police and entered the dock when the court resumed.
