FEDERATED FARMERS IN SOUTHLAND ELECT OFFICERS FOR YEAR

(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, May 17 Mr. C. J. Speight, of the Nightcaps branch, was elected as president of Federated Farmers (Southland branch) at the annual provincial conference which opened in Invercargill yesterday. Mr. A. V. Hartley (Ryal Bush) was elected as senior vice-president and Mr F. M. Henderson (Waikaka) as second vice-president. The seven members elected to the provincial executive were: Messrs. D. Brown (Drummond). G. Stevenson (Dacre), T. Double (Lumsden) I. R. Wills (West Plains), R. F. Dickie (Mataura), T. Murphy (Orepuki) and I. G, Fraser (Isla Bank).
