NEW HOSPITAL BUILDING TO BE OPENED ON JUNE 18

(S.R.) TOKOMARU BAY. May 17. At yesterday’s meeting of the Waiapu Hospital Board it was decided that the official opening of the new hospital buildings would take place on June 18. Invitations have been extended to the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, and the Minister of Health. Miss Mabel Howard who have indicated their willingness to be present at the opening.

Other Ministers of the Crown are expected to attend, as well as members of the Cook and Opotiki Hospital Boards. A large gathering of the public is anticipated. Commenced in April, 1945. and costing nearly £47,000, the additions include a 25-bed extension to the existing hospital, new X-ray and kitchen blocks and a modern nurses’ home.
