IMPOSTOR PLEADS FOR LENIENCY OF COURT

AUCKLAND, May. 17.
George Cecil Norry, aged an habitual criminal who advertised for a woman to lour with him as his secretary, was yesterday sentenced to three months’ hard labour. The prisoner had falsely represented I that he was a member of a Christ- I church firm. !
In a letter addressed to Mr. Justice Callan, the accused asked that a ccrti- ' ficate be granted so that an appeal 1 could be lodged. j
The judge said that the accused had the right to approach the Court of Appeal. Asking for leniency, Norry said the advertisement had been inserted “for devilment” and hessaw the women for a joke. He had gone straight for two years. His first child was born the day before he came up for trial and he had not seen it yet.
