UGLY BURGLAR’S LIFE CHANGED BY “FACE-LIFT”
NEW YORKThis is the story of the ugly burglar. It has all the elements of a fairy-tale. In Cleveland last year police caught John Glaefke red-handed in a robbery. Glaefke was a very ugly man. In court he said , passionately that he had turned to crime because of his ugliness. Normal people did not want to associate with him. he said. He told his story convincingly so convincingly—that the Court and police officials decided something must be done. , , Glaefke’s pood fairy was a plastic surgeon. In eight months he had medical attention which would normally have cost him 3000 dollars, but for which be was charged 35 dollars.- At the end of that time he had a new face. He has now been released on probation. and is working as a labourer. At night he goes to school so that he can get a better job. His probation officer says: "He is a changed man. It is almost unbelievable."
