ESCAPED PRISONER SOUGHT BY POLICE IN WELLINGTON AREA

(P.A.) WELLINGTON May/ 14. 1 A prisoner from Mt. Crawford gaol escaped from a prison working party in the middle of the afternoon yesterday. A large police party carried out searches for the escaped man and took measures aimed at preventing his escape from the Miramar peninsula The escaped man is Richard Stanley Wratten, described by the police as 27 years of age. sft. 7in. in height, a fresh complexion and with brown hair and eyes and tattoo marks on his right forearm. At the time of his escape he was wearing prison clothing comprising white moleskin trousers, a grey jacket and possibly an army grey long-sleeved pullover. Wratten was serving a recentlyimposed sentence for forgery of cheques.
