Horse-Meat Profiteers Heavily Fined
(10 a.m.) LONDON, May 13. In 163 prosecutions brought by the Ministry of Food at Burnley, Lancashire against people who sold or bought horse flesh for human consumption at prices above the controlled rates, the magistrates imposed fines amounting to £23Bd A Ministry official said that 620,000 horses were slaughtered in England last year for human consumption.
