ARAB DELEGATE’S CAR PELTED WITH EGGS IN NEW YORK
(10 a.m.) NEW YORK( May 13. The six Arab delegations that stalked out of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday night as a protest against Israel’s admission, returned yesterday as the polictical committee made its final attempt to find an acceptable formula for disposing of the former Italian colonies.
Outside the building, however, all was not so peaceful. Mr. Jamil Baroody, Saudi-Arabia, reported that his car had been pelted with eggs as his chauffeur drove it from the garage to Mr. Baroody’s apartment to take him to Lake Success. He asked the United States to protect delegates against ‘‘such cheap attacks.” Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt later told the social committee she wished to express regret for the egg throwing which, she said, she was sure was the work of a group of irresponsible hoodlums. A cheering, jostling crowd of Jews swarmed around the United Nations’ guards as they hoisted the Israeli flag outside the United Nations on the flagpole that had been built in anticipation of Israel’s admission.
The Israeli flag now stands alongside the fl.ags of 58 other United Nations’ members.
