LONDON REDS GAOLED FOR INSULTS

(10 a.m.) LONDON, May 9. Nine men who chained themselves to the railings of the United States Embassy in London on May Day were each sentenced to six weeks’ gaol today for having used insulting words and behaviour.

The nine men shouted such slogans as “no British blood for Yankee dollars” and “bloody American warmongers,” the court was told.

The prosecuting counsel said they were distributing handbills purporting to be issued by the London Young Communist League.
