KEEN COMPETITION EXPECTED IN B GRADE

BASKETBALL

Despite the absence of several school teams, there were good attendances of girls for the first day of the P.B. Basketball Association’s competitions on Saturday.

Te Karaka, though new to the top grade, acquitted themselves favourably and ought to benefit from the experience they will gain during the season. Saturday’s play was keen but rather slow, as most teams were feeling their way in the opening games. St. Mary’s teams, however, played some fast games, and showed swift passing among their players. This year the Senior B section has a great number of teams, showing promise of some well-fought games among the better teams, which are almost up to A Grade standard.
