SEASONAL TREND OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN CANADA EXPLAINED

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 16 It was admitted that there was considerable unemployment in Vancouver although much of it was seasonal and an improvement could be expected before long, said the High Commissioner for Canada. Mr. Alfred Rive, commenting on the reported statements by three stowaways in Auckland. Unemployment was normal for this time of the year, he said, as the early spring was considered an “off season.” Mr. Rive pointed out that the figure for the whole of British Columbia and Vancouver Island was 42.000 and (hat the unemployed in the city of Vancouver totalled only approximately 20,000.
