WOMAN KILLED: HUSBAND AND TWO DAUGHTERS HURT

(P.A.) WANGANUI, April 14. Auckland bound on an Easter holiday, four members of a Wanganui family of nine plunged over a 20-ft bank on the Parapara load (bis morning. A woman was killed instantly and her husband and two small daughters are now in the Wanganui Hospital. Those involved were:— KILLED Mrs. Gladys Amelia Smaller, aged 43, mother of seven children. INJURED Mr. Douglas Valentine Smaller, freezing worker, husband of the dead woman and the driver of the car, fractured ribs and head injuries. Heather Smaller, aged 14, head injuries and concussion. Doreen Spialler, aged 9, shock. Mr. Smaller’s small rental car passed a Wanganui-bound bus about 20 yards from a bridge at the 31-mile peg. but missed the bridge and dived over a bank into a shallow stream. Bus passengers lemuved Mr. Smaller, who was unconscious, and his daughters from the car under great difficulties. Three months ago Mr. Smaller was the driver of a van which rolled 100 ft. down a Dank off the road neai Hunterville. He then suffered a fractured shoulder and ribs.
