Named After N.Z. Shipping Co.

The flag of the New Zealand Shipping Company is now “flying” on the sides of a handsome new locomotive which is now in use by British Railways. The new engine, of the Merchant Navy class, is named “New Zealand Line,” and is the first of the third series of 10 3c.ylinder simple expansion high-pressure streamlined locomotives built by the Southern Region to the designs of Mr. O. V. Bulleid. The naming ceremony was carried out at Waterloo station on November 24 last by Mr. H. S. Whitehouse, chairman of the Now Zealand Shipping Company, Limited.
