REORGANISATION OF FIJI'S DEFENCES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 6. A start is being made with the reorganisation of the defence system of one of New Zealand’s outer bastions — Fiji. The Minister of Defence. Mr. F. Jones, announcing this, said that Colonel C. L. Pleasants bad been appointed the representative in- Fiji of the New Zealand chiefs of staff in which capacity he would act also as advisor to the Governor of Fiji on matters connected with the defence of the territory. Colonel Pleasants will be replaced as camp commandant at Waiouru by Major H. A. Purcell.
