TURPIN-SANDS FIGHT REFUSED

The Boxing Board of Control refused an application by the promoter, Jack Solomons, to stage a fight on May 16 between Dick Turpin, the holder, and Dave Sands for the Empire middleweight title. The reason given is that Turpin has to defend his British middleweight title against Albert Finch on or before May 31.
