Women’s Foursomes Title Play Reaches Semi-Final Round
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 7. As the result of play in the third and fourth rounds of the autumn foursomes championship of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union at Heretaunga Miss Z. Hudson and Mrs. W. Toomey (Christchurch), Mrs. Raency and Mrs. Pearce (Wellington). Mrs. Hatrick and Mrs. Clachan (Miramar) and Mrs. Weltonliogg and Mrs! van Asch (Christchurch) came through to contest the semi-finals being played today. Miss Hudson and Mrs. Toomey maintained their consistent form to come through both games yesterday. In the morning they went out in 40 to stand 6 up on Mrs. Cockroft and Mrs. Cooper and went on strongly to take the game by 8 and G. In the afternoon they had a harder fight to defeat the Miramar pair. Mrs. Meeeh and Mrs. MacGregor. 3 and 2.
Mrs. Hatrick and Mrs. Clachan again teamed well to outplay Mrs. Wardell and Mrs. Faulknor (Masterton) after conceding their opponents 15 strokes, winning bv 8 and G. In the afternoon they bad a sterner battle to defeat Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Martin (Wellington). Mrs. Welton-Hogg (Wellington) and Mrs. van Asch (Christchurch) have made a happy combination. In the third round they outplayed Mrs. Blacklev and Mrs. Mclntosh to win 4 and 3. and in the afternoon, just managed to get home from Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Pavne, 2 and 1.
