SAVAGE CLUB’S FOOD PARCELS APPRECIATED
Appreciation of a goodwill gesture by the Gisborne Savage Club in forwarding a consignment of 14 cases of foodstuffs to the Commonwealth Gift Centre Ministry of Food, London, is conveyed in a letter received from the Ministry by Mr. T. Adams, secretary of the club. The food was shipped in the s.s. Knut Bakke.
“Please accept and convey to all the generous members, of the club the Ministry’s thanks, not only of the gift, but of the thoughtfulness which inspired its dispatch to help the people of England,” the Ministry writes. It goes on to say that club members will hear from those benefiting by their action and that from individual letters of thanks members would obtain some idea of the depth of their gratitude. “We are entering a new year greatly encouraged by The generosity and_ friendship which comes over the seas to us in such unstinted measure,” con- - eludes the letter, dated m February of this year.
