Roadstead Calls: Monday Fixture For Deputation

A prompt reply lias been made by Ihe Prime Minister. Mr. P. Fraser, to an urgent request by Gisborne organisations for an opportunity to discuss with him the possible return of overseas shipping to the Gisborne roadstead. Mr. Fraser intimated that he will meet a deputation in Wellington on Monday at 10 a.m.

Advice to this effect has been received by the secretary of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, Mr. M. J. White, from Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P. The latter, who is now engaged in visiting in the electorate, has been in touch with the Prime Minister by telephone, and this morning received Mr. Fraser’? intimation of the fixture desired. The deputation will leave Gisborne on Sunday, and will comprise the Mayor. Mr. N. H. Bull. Mr. F. Toler ton as representing the freezing industry, Mr. I. J. Quigley as the representative of the lightering interests in Gisborne. Mr. R. G. Clare, president of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce Mr. J. S. Jessep. East Coast Commissioner. and representatives—still to be named—of Federated Farmers, the Gisborne harbour Board, and the Trades and Labour Council.
