WORLD’S BIGGEST AIRLINER FLIES ATLANTIC

NEW YORK, April 4

The world’s largest airliner, PanAmerican Airways’ 71-ton doubledecked Boeing Stratocruiser “Flying Cloud,” on its maiden Atlantic flight from Idle Wild airport, New York, arrived at Shannon airport at 4.20 a.m. G.M.T. on the lap from Gander, Newfoundland, 10 minutes ahead of schedule. The Stratocruiser carried 43 passengers and a crew of 16. A Pan-American Airways’ official saicLthe flight was uneventful. When regular Atlantic flights begin cn June 1, the Stratocruiser will complete the flight from Idle Wild to Heath Row in one hop.
