(10 a.m.) LONDON, April 5. The death has occurred of Mr. John Russell Scott, aged 70, chairman and governing director of the Manchester Guardian and Evening News.

The death of Mr. G. A. Maddison was referred- to at the annual meeting of the P.B. Rugby Football Union last night. Mr. Maddison, who had been p "-ember of the New Zealand Pu°b" Union, had given outstanding service to Ru?bv throughout New Zealand, said the president, Mr. G. J. Jeune. As a mark of respect members stood in silence.
