i llcrulil Uoi t etjponUcMit.} Last year the City Rugby club, Te Araroa, travelled to Ruatoria to play City ekib there, the game resulting in a draw, 3 all. On Saturday, in the first match of the season at Te Araroa, the Ruatoria team defeated the home City side 11-3. 'the weather was fine and warm, and a large crowd enjoyed the game. The teams were: Ruatoria: J. C. Reedy. T. Fox, P. Hogan, 11. Rangiuia, Mcllroy, R. C. Smythc, M. Scofield, D. McClutchie, W. Callaghan, C. Hacnga, M. Walsh, W. Walker, T. Ngarimu, J. Keith and 11. Goldsmith. Te Araroa: T, Rangihuna, Hauiti, Waitoa, W. Rickard, H. Abraham, Rigby, T. Parata, P. Edmonds, R. Brown, Hooper, T. Crawford, Totoro, S. Pukctapu, Te Ngahue and S. Pokai.

In the first, spell a collision between two Te Araroa forwards obliged B. Hauiti to retire injured. Very even exchanges marked the first spell and the interval was signalled with the score unopened.

From a line-out Scofield, who warplaying in very decisive fashion, dashed round to score near the corner. Conversion again failed. A line-out infringement deep in Te Araroa territory gave Ruatoria a penalty kick and Hogan was unlucky in missing the goal. Mcllroy next set Ruatoria backs going and Fox scored neatly far out. Scofield converting. The game ended with the score Ruatoria, 11, Te Araroa O. The referee was Mr. N. T. Lovegrove. Outstanding in Ruatoria backs were Scofield, Fox and Hogan and prominent in their forwards were McClutchie and Goldsmith. Te Araroa forwards who showed most initiative were Edmonds and T. Crawford and their most versatile backs were T. Rangihuna and Rigby.
