ARABS INSIST ON AID FOR REFUGEES BEFORE PEACE
LONDON, Mar. 27. The Arab countries have informed (he Palestine Conciliation Commission that they will not attend a full-scale peace conference before the problem of 750,000 Arab refugees js settled. The commission spokesman said that no decision on refugees was expected until the commission had studied the Arab cases and consulted further with Israel.
Reuter's correspondent in Amman says it is understood that the Egyptian delegation to the Arab refugee discussions in Beirut suggested a form of Arab League trusteeship over a separate Palestine Arab State.
The trusteeship plan, which would operate under a United Nations' mandate, envisages financial, economic, and military assistance from league members amounting at the start to £5,000,000 a year, gradually diminishing as conditions return to normal. Saudi-Arabia and Syria support the plan. The Israeli authorities today handed over to the Arab Legion 314 Arab war prisoners.
