LONDON, Mar. 27. Nearly 250,000 people today saw Russian Hero easily win the Grand National at Aintree.

The favourite, Cromwell, ridden and owned by the 39-year-old peer, Lord Mildmay, finished fourth. Forty-three horses started and 11 finished. Boras Cottage died from injuries received in the race. Only three riders had to be treated for injuries, though riderless horses threatened to tangle with the leaders. A tenant farmer. Mr. Williamson, owner of Russian .Hero, refused an offer of 4500 guineas for the horse only two weeks ago. He bred Russian Hero from a mare he bought 12 years ago for 25 guineas.
