CHILD OF 20 MONTHS DROWNED IN STREAM
(P.A.) NELSON, Mar. 29. Wandering away from home in Motupipi road, Takaka, on Sunday afternoon a 20-months-old child fell into a nearby stream and was drowned. She was Cynthia Solly, daughter of Mr, and Mrs- Walter Solly, of Takaka. Mr. Solly is a seaman aboard the steamer Rata. At about 4.15 p.m. on Sunday the child was missed by her mother. A search was instituted and the child was found lying in the Motupipi stream. A doctor applied artificial respiration for about three-quarters of an hour without success.
